Album

The debut album, Is / Are Here, is a collaboration between Stephen Beasley and Matthew Price, working together on song-writing, production, recording, engineering, and mixing. The concept was to produce large dance tracks that can be replicated live by this two-man band.

Beasley / Price play the album live on stage, but that means something different than playing fourteen songs in order. It means that the recorded performances from the album are used, modified, manipulated, and adapted on stage. Essentially, Beasley / Price control the pre-recorded tracks live much like a conductor controls an orchestra’s performance – in this case, by using digital recording and DJ’ing equipment. On top of that, they add live vocals, horn-lines, keyboards, harmonicas, and improvised solos. The live performances sound like the album in terms of groove and largeness of sound, but also different because of additional elements and manipulations that happen live. Beasley / Price’s approach to shows is to never repeat one.

Beasley / Price’s debut album, Is / Are Here, will be released for digital distribution near the end of June, 2012.

The album features performances by guest artists T Bird (T Bird and the Breaks), LZ Love (Billy Preston, Parliament Funkadelic, and Stephen Marley), and Jazz Mills (Cowboy and Indian).
